How It Works

The volunteer process

To ensure a safe and effective experience for everyone, all volunteers follow these steps before serving.

Step 1

Submit Application

Complete and submit this volunteer application form.

Step 2

Arrive 30 Minutes Early

All volunteers are required to attend 30 minutes early before each food give away day.

Step 3

Background Check

Depending on your role, a background check may be required prior to volunteering.

Step 4

Driver's License

Volunteers in driving or delivery roles must provide a valid driver's license.

Step 5

Begin Serving

Once cleared, you'll be matched to opportunities that fit your gifts and schedule.

Arrival Time

All volunteers are required to attend 30 minutes early before each food give away day.

Background Check & Driver's License

Certain volunteer roles — especially those involving children, driving, or financial responsibilities — require a valid driver's license and/or a background check.

Volunteers Under 18

A parent or legal guardian must give permission and sign the application for any volunteer under 18.

Student volunteers are not required to complete a background check.

Liability Release

Volunteer work involves physical activity — lifting, standing for a while, sorting and carrying food, and sometimes being outside in the heat or cold.

By signing below, I agree that:

  • I am volunteering on my own choice, and I understand that volunteer work carries a risk of injury or illness.
  • I will follow the safety directions of True Word Ministries staff and will not do any task I do not feel able to do safely.
  • I will tell a staff member right away if I am hurt or if something goes wrong.
  • True Word Ministries, its leaders and its volunteers are not responsible for injuries, illness, or lost or damaged personal property that happen while I am volunteering, except where the law does not allow this to be waived.
  • If I appear in photos or videos while serving, they may be used to share the ministry's work. I can ask us to stop using them at any time.
