How Can I Get An Upgrade In My Life ?
When this question is asked it usually is referring to when will I have more money, etc. In today’s economy this is a formidable task. Salary increases are usually far between. Investing is often a slippery slope wherein we can actually go backwards. The best way is usually to find a higher paying job, either by new job training or by additional education. You are a captive of the system.
Upgrading through education requires being qualified for, and able to afford, a higher education. You will find yourself dependent on several teachers and eventually the job market in your chosen field. Most people don’t think about the most important upgrade that can be achieved, ....and it’s free! It is a close personal relationship with the God of the universe. Many don’t realize that the best things are not things.
The Bible informs us that we have the opportunity to have our awesome God as a potter with us being the clay. Jeremiah 18:4 tells us “..as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand.” and in Isaiah 64:8 we read “But now O Lord, You are our Father. We are the clay and You our potter. And all we are the work of Your hand.” If we are willing, He will mold us in the image of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ Who died on a cross to pay the penalty for our sins if we become children of God. In Genesis 1:26, God says, “let Us make man in Our image.” To be a member of God’s family is the ultimate upgrade in life!
To continue, the pathway is clear - one needs to admit to being a sinner in need of God’s saving grace. Start with Romans 3:23 which states that “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” The penalty for sin is found in Romans 6:23 - “For the wages of sin is death.’ This death is referring to a separation from a loving God when you die. However He has provided a means for you to escape the punishment you deserve. Romans 5:8 tells us the beginning of the solution. “But God demonstrated His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 10:9 shows us the continuation of the process, “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Finally we come to the assurance of being forever under His care in Romans 8:1 which says, “there is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit”
Don’t put off making the decision to become a child of God. We are not guaranteed that we will have a tomorrow. One can die in a traffic accident before having another chance at this upgrade. God is already reaching out to you.
In addition to what you decide right now, make sure that you regularly attend a Bible believing church. Request a copy of their beliefs and their practices. Take it home and make certain that you can confirm these in a proven Bible like the original or New King James authorized version.
Psalm 119:11 “Your word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against You.”
